What is the Unity Diamond™? The Unity Diamond™ is a trademarked diamond available only through New Life Diamonds & Gems. The Unity Diamond™ is created from a small sample of hair from two or more people. The Unity Diamond™ was created as the ultimate accent to a bridal ring, honoring a civil union or perfect anniversary ring. |
What is the difference between your cultured diamonds and your Life Diamonds? Cultured Diamonds are created for the custom jeweler industry and Life Diamonds are created from human or pet hair or cremains (cremation remains). |
Why are you the only dealer of Memorial (Life Diamonds) and Cultured Diamonds for the custom Jeweler industry? With the creation of the Unity Diamond™ it only seemed natural that the two industries join. New Life Diamonds & Gems is proud to offer both as well as specialty cut and rough gems. |
Are created diamonds real diamonds? Yes, New Life Diamonds are real diamonds. Cultured diamonds are identical in every aspect to natural diamonds. They have the same molecular properties as naturally mined diamonds. They are extremely difficult to tell from their natural counterparts. These are not diamond simulants or imitations like CZ (Cubic Zirconium) or Moissanite (Silicon Carbide) or any of the other vast number of synthetics (fakes) available. |
What does certified mean? Our cultured diamonds, like natural diamonds, are authenticated and identified by world-renown and highly trained gemologists. Documentation will accompany your diamond. |
How much does a New Life Diamond cost? A New Life Diamond “Family Diamond” created from hair or human remains in 1. ct fancy yellow, round brilliant cut is priced at $10,000. A Cultured Diamond of the same type in VS clarity for Custom Jeweler distribution is priced at $4,000. Our prices are excellent. |
Why are your prices lower? I try to keep my overhead low. I do not send out thousands of mailers. I try to keep my printing cost as low as possible for two reasons: 1) I don’t like to kill trees on wasted paper and 2) I don’t like keeping a large inventory of paper. I try to pass the savings to my clients because I feel that everyone should have an opportunity to own Cultured Diamonds. |
How is the Unity Diamond™ made from a hair sample? The Unity Diamond™, featured exclusively and trademarked by New Life Diamonds, is created by reducing the hair sample to its simplest form-carbon. That carbon is then compressed through a high-heat-high-pressure (HHHP) process which results in a gem quality cultured diamond. |
What if my Unity Diamond™ doesn’t arrive in time for the wedding? We could easily arrange for a substitute gem of the same size and color to be used until your diamond arrives. |
What sizes (in carats) are available? From .25cts - 2.cts. Larger sizes are currently in development. |
What colors are available? Various shades of Red, Green, Blue and Yellow. Lately it has been very difficult to produce the blue in larger sizes. Please check availability. |
How many Life Diamonds can be made from one hair or cremains sample? It really depends on the size of the sample, but generally 3 to 4 ½ ct diamonds. |
How much hair or cremains is needed? Generally a small handful or about a cup of hair or approx 8 oz or 1 cup of cremains. |
Can I have my Unity Diamond™ mounted by my own jeweler? Absolutely. The diamond belongs to you to do with as you wish. If you don’t have a jeweler in mind, our featured jeweler would be happy to assist you in any way. |
What clarity is available in the Life Diamonds and cultured diamonds? Cultured diamonds are available from VVS to SI clarity. Life diamonds are created specifically from an individual donor and the diamonds tend to be as individual as its donor. It will contain a few natural inclusions just like natural diamonds. We strive to provide the highest quality gem, but unfortunately we can not guarantee a certain clarity level. We can guarantee a premium cut stunning to the naked eye. |
What colors are available in Life diamonds? One of the greatest things about the Life Diamonds is that the unique genetic makeup of the donor directly affects the shade of the color you’ve selected. Some are as bright as the sun and others are as clear and crisp as a glacier pool. Shades range from light, medium to dark. |
Why would I want a colored diamond? Like the rarest diamonds found in nature, known as "fancy", our brilliant colored diamonds make a unique and impressive statement. |
Can you create a Life Diamond from someone previously cremated? The most widely chosen process to create a Life diamond is to start with the cremains. Then we are able to extract the remaining carbon to begin the Life diamond creation process. |
Can diamonds be made from pet hair or cremains? Yes. We understand the unconditional love and commitment that only a pet can provide and at New Life Diamonds pets are part of the family. |
How long does it take to create a diamond? Typically, it takes about 16 weeks to create a yellow diamond and 20 weeks to create a red, blue or green diamond. |
How can I be sure that the diamond I receive contains the carbon from my loved one? Our integrity is important to us and it would not be in anyone’s best interest to practice deception. We are proud to be able to immortalize the memories of love or loss within a diamond. |
There is not a trade partner in my area. What do I do? Ask the funeral home, mortuary, custom jeweler or vet hospital to contact us about becoming a trade partner or contact us directly for more information or directions. |
Why did you choose the Make-a-Wish foundation as your charity of choice? When I was younger I lost a friend to cancer and I always thought about all the things he missed. I believe in their mission and want to help in whatever way I can. If all companies had a charity of choice and pledged regularly, the world might be a better place. |
